The Call

From June 2009 to June 2010, the Pope Benedict XVI declared a year of the priest in an effort to encourage “spiritual perfection” in priests. During this jubilee year, the Pope will also proclaim St. John Vianney to be patron saint of all the world’s priests. At present he is considered the patron saint of parish priests.

This documentary is a homage to the priestly vocation and to the “call” that all the priests hear from God.

From the Vatican City to North America, from the Amazon Jungle to the ancient European parishes, the film explains the unique vocation of the priests serving all over the planet.

The author focuses on those she calls “the good priests”: solid, well prepared and above all, as the Holy Father himself said “present, identifiable and recognizable – for their judgment of faith, their personal virtues and their attire – in the fields of culture and charity which have always been at the heart of the church’s mission”.

There are several beautiful stories of vocation and the message is the same: do not oppose to God, if He decided you’ll be a priest, you’ll be one.
